Excellent value for those needing a quick cup April 10, 2003 sonytoao (Silver Spring, MD USA) 42 out of 42 found this review helpful
I bought the Melitta Dual Mug Coffeemaker to replace my Black & Decker Single Cup "Brew N Go" and am very pleased with the purchase. In contrast to the B&D model, you can brew two cups or just one with the Melitta unit. Although it doesn't contain a permanent metal filter, the plastic filter holder in the Melitta is easy to clean. The entire unit in fact is mostly plastic, so it remains to be seen how long it will last, but it is well built. One subtle advantage the Melitta provides is that the H20 tank has clear markers inside indicating acceptable water levels for either 1 or 2 cups. This is an often overlooked feature by many manufacturers and is appreciated here.As noted by other reviewers, the included mugs are only steel on the outside; the inside insulation is again plastic. The mug width (circumference) is slightly larger than normal so it may not slide easily into your car's cup holders but that's a minor inconvenience. Coffee does stay hot in the mugs, or at least warm enough to drink, for approx. 2 hours. The unit brews quickly so that it's easy to make a mug and head off to work. If you often stop for coffee in the a.m., I'd recommend you pick up this unit. It enables you to quickly brew a fresh mug made to your tastes while also saving you money.
A Great Buy! March 28, 2003 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I only drink one cup of coffee some morning when I feel like it. Also drink tea throughout the day. This coffee maker is just perfect for me. I get hot, fresh coffee or tea whenever I want to drink it. I also use it to make hot water for instant noodle. It heats up the water quickly. It takes no time to get a fresh cup of coffee/tea. It is just perfect for me. I normally make one cup of coffee/tea at a time, but I like the two-cup option. Whenever my friend comes to visit, I can make coffee/tea for her and I at the same time. The unit is very easy to use and clean. It requires a #2 paper filter. Some people may like a permanent filter better. However, I find a paper filter much easier to clean. I just pick it up and toss it in the trash. Then, I just rinse off the removable filter cup. I like the coffee cups. The are stylish. They are insulated. They keep the beverage warm longer than regular cups. They are easy to drink from (unlike some travel cups I have used). You can take them with you and set them in the cup holders in your car. I highly recommend this product to gourmet coffee drinkers who like to have a fresh cup every time. It also makes a great gift!
Does Just What it Says it Does October 4, 2005 antiomi (Michigan) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This coffeemaker makes one or two large travel mugs of coffee. It takes about 5 minutes to brew a single travel mug, not counting setup. Setup is as easy or easier than a regular coffee maker -- put in coffee, put in water, plug it in and press start. It takes a #2 cone filter which is available at any grocery store -- it isn't the standard basket type but it's pretty much just as easy to find. The mugs are dishwashable and the basket and spout are washable in warm soapy water. The Take 2 is great if you like your coffee to go and/or if there is only one coffee drinker in your household. I typically brew a single mug at a time. I put flavored syrups in the bottom of the mug and it essentially "stirs" itself as it brews. It make a good cup of coffee (better when you use better coffee in it, of course). This is not the coffee maker for you if you want to make a pot of coffee or if you want smaller mugs of coffee -- you have to brew into the mugs that come with it. So it may not appeal to some folks who want something more versatile. On the plus side, however, it takes regular coffee rather than the "pods" that you have to buy especially for pod-type makers. I have had this for several months and had only one bad experience when the filter burst and I got a lovely mug full of sludge. I don't actually think that was the maker's fault -- I'll put that in my review of the filters! The Take 2 is a good, solid product that I would buy again.
Great! March 8, 2003 Christian J. Harris (Durham, NC United States) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
From the picture alone, anyone can see that this isn't what you're looking for if you plan on making cups and cups and cups of coffee, but for what it's worth, it's great. It makes coffee just as well as any other coffeemaker would and the design is sleak - you can't beat that price. It comes with two thermos-type cups that each hold more than enough joe to start off your day and stay warm on those cold, winter days. Speed isn't an issue either, so whether you're on the go or just need a quick cup to get you going . . . live alone or the only coffee drinker in the house, this is just right.
Works great for me December 1, 2005 E. Johnson (in the woods in Maine) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this in September, with some hesitation as the reviews posted were mixed. Things like uneven filling, leaking/breaking mugs, and messes on the counter concerned me. But this coffee maker has performed great for me. I typically make single mugs, but I brew 3 - 5 mugs throughout the day. I did notice a little unevenness in the filling with two mugs, but nothing that bothered me. I hand-wash the mugs (no dishwasher!) and haven't had any problems with leaking or breaking or separating. And I have opened the top of the maker to remove the used grounds shortly after the brew cycle. I don't like to leave the grounds sit all day while I am at work. And I haven't had any messes on the counter. I think this is a great coffee maker for me. My recommendation is to read the reviews here and then decide whether or not to try this out. I am glad I did.
