Attractive, Sturdy and Handy! July 2, 2008 Hippie2MARS (Chattanooga, TN United States) 22 out of 25 found this review helpful
Yes,I know I could use any ol' bowl for this purpose, but I have really enjoyed this bright, attractive bowl. After it comes out of the dishwasher it even has a designated spot on the kitchen counter. It's good quality melamine and due to that it doesn't retain odors, is sturdy as hell, and washes up like a dream. The design is a throw back to the kitchenware of the 50's and 60's...maybe that's why it appeals to me! I've used it so much that when they went on sale, I ordered another one for myself and one for my mom. I plan to use one for "wet" garbage (destined for the garbage disposal or compost) and one for "dry" garbage (destined for the trash can). As for all those who feel it necessary to post negative reviews for things they don't own, nor even plan to own, stop wasting my time! If you don't own it, your opinion doesn't really hold a lot of water anyway.

So I know you could use any old bowl as a "garbage bowl". My mom gave this to me as a gift. It actually does come in handy. It is deeper than a conventional bowl so you can fit a lot in it. It is also a stirdy plastic and it can go in the dish washer. I like it.
Funky and Oh-So-Convenient.... February 18, 2008 Linda Wilkinson 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
I really bought this for my niece and ended up having to buy 2. I'm a prolific and bone-lazy cook; when I'm done in the kitchen, I have every pot and pan, etc., in the sink. I don't like to drag the garbage out (I have a dog) to throw stuff in as I cook, and leaving a mixing bowl out on my sink to hold refuse looks like, well, it looks like a dirty mixing bowl. The garbage bowl, in the brick color, is a funky melamine that does not look like a mixing bowl. In fact, when the sun is shining (not much lately), the bowl actually glows. I can leave it out on the counter. I fill it up as I'm cooking and when I'm done, it's ONE TRIP to the garbage disposal or garbage. It's out of reach of my dog. I use this every single day - it's such a simple idea and it saves me so much time that I'm irritated I didn't think of it myself. No stains, and it's dishwasher-safe, although I normally just swipe it with a damp paper towel. I recommend this esoteric little must-have; after just a few weeks, I wouldn't part with it.

What an awesome tool to use while cooking. I used to use a plastic bag to collect my garbage while cooking. The bowl is useful and attractive. Yes, you may buy a cheaper plain bowl for the same purpose, but I enjoy the bright color.
Rachael rar garbage bowl, brick July 21, 2008 Debbie L. Smith (Tennessee) I just love this bowl! I use it every day, and there is never any doubt which bowl on the counter is the garbage bowl. It is deep and tall enough to accommodate most anything. My kitchen will always have a rachael ray garbage bowl!
