5 out of 5 stars Great Product   November 24, 2008

Almost Perfect Alarm clock! Two minor things to note and one change I would recommend. I have some nature sound recordings that I wanted to use (waves, rain, that kind of thing) If the alarm clock doesn't pick up a track playing at a certain volume (decibel range?) it replaces the track with the electronic beeping, so if you have your own track of progressive sounds you wish to wake up to, it may not work if it is outside of the parameters the alarm clock accepts. I understand they want to make sure your alarm clock wakes you up, but I'd like to have the flexibility to play any track I want to wake up to (works fine with all the music I've tried, not sure about spoken word). This was somewhat of a disappointment, but it is a great product, maybe this feature will be in a future upgrade.

Another thing that was unexpected, the iHome playlist you select isn't the playlist it uses...the playlist just has to exist to activate the iPod, but isn't used by the alarm clock. It will play whichever song you have playing or the next song in the playlist of shuffle when the alarm comes on.

Aside from these two minor issues, which I point out to make other aware, I'm very pleased with the product, best alarm clock I've ever owned. So much more pleasant to wake up gently.

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed   December 21, 2008

I received the IHome IP99BR about three weeks ago. I've used it as an alarm clock, for charging my Iphone and listening to the ipod portion of the iphone. Every night the iphone charges on the IP99BR. There has been no hint of interference from the iphone. This was my major concern, and other reviewers frankly scared me. But this has not been a problem at all for mine. I am pleased with the sound from this machine. It's not a top line stereo, but it's far better than the typical clock radio. I heartily recommend this device.

4 out of 5 stars An excellent audio and charging solution   August 29, 2008

Pros:
- A convenient way to charge your iPod or iPhone on your night stand
- Sound quality is a 4 out of 5 stars, with clear highs and and adequate bottom for a clock radio
- Handles all iPhone audio (except calls), including video and internet radio
- Clean and simple remote control with good across-the-room range
- Backlit buttons and display have several light levels, dimmed at the touch of a button
- Solid construction, compact
- Line-in for additional source
- Does indeed block out Edge/Wifi iPhone interference (in my personal experience, you milage may vary) as long as you're in iPod/iPhone mode. There is some inevitable interference when in radio mode. This is the nature of RF, folks.

Cons:
- No internal AM antenna, so you'll need to use the included loop
- Input select button cycles through AM, FM, and Line Input but not iPod/iPhone. The iPod/iPhone is selected as the source by pressing the play button or if the iPod/iPhone is already playing audio before being plugged into the dock. This is fine if you plan to use only the iPod functionality. If you're an internet radio listener, you'll need to get the station streaming before plugging in. Not a big issue, but worthy of note.

4 out of 5 stars Glad I bought it, even though it has one problem   December 1, 2008

I had an ihome for my ipod, but wanted to upgrade to this one because it would take the iPhone 3G. I did get the message, the first two times I plugged it in, that said it would not work with device. But just ignore the message, and it goes away. It has never come back. It works very well, in all ways, except one - It is supposed to wake to PLAYLIST, but will only randomly do so. It will usually wake to what I was listening to before I went to sleep. Sometimes it does wake to PLAYLIST, but I can't count on it. iHome has told me it should.. I read other posts about interference, but I get none. The sound is beautiful.

4 out of 5 stars Works great with an iPod Touch   December 22, 2008

I don't use an iPhone with this, but with the Touch it works great. I have my Touch in a slim case and it fits snugly in the cradle. The speakers have good sound for a clock radio (much better than the iHome versions made for iPod only). The dual alarm system is nice, and the whole system feels like it was put together well and with good materials. Can't say the same for a lot of the crap I compared it to when shopping around. The numerals on the clock are big enough for geezers like me who wear glasses - as I can read the time at night without them. The clock illumination can be too bright at night, but all you have to do is tap the snooze bar and it dims (4 brightness levels?). For the price and performance, I don't think there is a better deal on the market today.
