Not for your first or second grader January 8, 2005 mumto4boys (USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This cd set is useful for children learning the alphabet and numbers. There are a lot of tedious musical numbers for the child to sit through to earn a star. After getting all the stars you can print a certificate. This was somewhat amusing for my 3 year old but does not teach sounding out of letters or other important reading skills. If you want something to help your child really advance in 1st or 2nd grade this is not the software you want. If you want something to amuse a preschooler or kindergarten child, you may find this useful, especially if your child likes singing along. (My child does not). This is a 2 CD set. The second CD "Smiletown" is rather poor quality with these annoying "pokemon" type characters - younger children may find it interesting but not much educational value.
