This software is great both my kids love this. The topics of study include: Spelling, Literature, Early Math, Science, Geography, Vocabulary, Music, Reading & Sentences, Art & Creativity, Sequencing & Ordering, Comprehension, Phonics and Letter Sounds.
Kids practice reading skills with eight story books which tastefully deal with children from other countries, races and cultures. Painting activities are included. Colors provided are red, yellow, blue, black, and brown. You need to mix the colors to make your secondary colors.
Ms. Pickles, the cook, will guide you through fractions when you help serve food in the cafeteria line. The player must learn to make and divide pizza quickly, to serve to the students in the food line. Kids enjoy the silliness of making the correct sized pizza and topping it with worms, flies and mushrooms! Another activity that is great is using coins into the vending machine with Frankie. Cash register practice for the lunch room, you need to add the prices for the foods that the students purchase. The cash register will guide students and confirm that their addition and subtraction are correct.
Graphics and Sound: Kids love the encouraging tunes that play from the yellow radio. The radio is musical accompaniment for a field trip to the beach. My daughter found great humor as the shark mistakenly takes a bite out of a rock. She loved to sing his favorite song "Reading is Fun," while she enjoyed his observation of the beach activities.
Conclusion: Jump-Start First Grade is outstanding kid's software. Useful as a skill builder and reinforce for children attending school or for home school families. Parents and kids will be glad that Knowledge Adventure created an entire Jump-Start series for children to learn and advance through! The entire grade school in a box is a fantastic idea. Families that value education will appreciate this set! Each grade level can be purchased separately, or the entire set can be purchased at one time. Feel confident purchasing the entire set at a discount....you will be glad that you did!
