Nice and lightweight! March 18, 2008 Kenzie L. Jardina (Atlanta, GA USA) 46 out of 46 found this review helpful
After reading hundreds of reviews and going back and forth between the Graco Metrolight, Graco Stylus, and the Chicco Cortina I found this travel system here on Amazon. What worried me most about the Graco and Chicco systems were the weight. We tried them out in the store and the car seat by itself was horribly heavy - without an added 10 pound baby inside! I was also worried about how the stroller would fit, even folded, in the trunk of my VW Jetta. This system seemed to address all my concerns based on the other reviews, but I was still nervous waiting for it to arrive since it isn't one of the well-known brand names and the price was much lower than the others I was considering. Simply put, this system is awesome. The big, three-wheeled setup is easy to push and maneuver. (It actually has a dual front wheel which helps keep it very stable.) All of the controls are easy and either lock or audibly snap in place so you know it's secure. When folded, it's compact and still easy to put into the trunk since all three wheels stay on the ground - keeping all the soft bits elevated and clean which I really like. It fits with room to spare in my trunk. The car seat is lightweight and easy to carry. It took my husband about 20 minutes to assemble the stroller and install the car seat base. The controls for releasing the car seat from both the base and the stroller and the control to collapse the stroller are easy to use which is nice for first time parents like us. There aren't crazy bells and whistles with this system, but it's sturdy, lightweight and maneuverable which are worth more to me than some of the other add-ons or a bigger cupholder. (Which, by the way, a standard 20oz coke bottle fits into fine. You might have to skip the jumbo bucket of drink at the fast food place, but otherwise they're fine.) The canopies are easy to unfold and retract and even with the seat all the way back you can easily reach into the basket compartment on the bottom, which is a complaint often mentioned with the pricier systems. The only caveat I have for this system is the color, and it actually works for us but we were surprised. From the pictures I expected more of a silver and black, but the system is baby blue and black. We're having a boy so it's okay, but I would have preferred a more gender neutral or at least a different color than baby blue. It's a very minor complaint but I thought I should mention it so other parents wouldn't be surprised. In short I couldn't be happier with my choice of the Safety 1st Acella Sport travel system. I can't wait for our little one to arrive in a few weeks so we can tool around the neighborhood in style!
Absolutely love this stroller - car seat is fine September 8, 2007 Scott (Portland, OR) 45 out of 45 found this review helpful
We looked at a lot of strollers and were considering the Graco Metrolite and a couple of others. It is extremely light weight, very well built, and has all kinds of great features. We weren't sure about the tri-wheeled set-up until we played with this one in a store. Now, we can't imagine having the quad set-up. - The larger wheels have made it excellent for long walks around our neighborhood. - It folds very, very easily - It folds in a way that keeps the wheels down and everything else up, out of the dirt and wet ground. - It looks much more stylish than all the big plasticky Graco's and other strollers in this price range The car seat is fine, but nothing special. The sun shade is a little flimsy. We were also a little concerned at the rescinded Consumer Reports article. It turns out that they were testing at much higher speeds than intended, but this one still didn't do as well as a couple of others.
I love it! October 15, 2007 M. Bolte 60 out of 60 found this review helpful
We originally went to Target and tried out the strollers there. We planned on getting the Eddie Bauer Travel System (which runs around $200.) But after reading some mixed reviews that said the main drawback with that system was the heaviness and the latch system complicatedness (and as my husband and I are both short and had also been warned about complicated seatbelts), I wasn't sure how a heavy system would suit us. So I did more research and found the Safety 1st system. It's gotten good reviews for safety, looks nice, was $70 less, and doesn't weigh much. Plus, it has 3 wheels, which seemed nice for handling. So we ordered this system; I was apprehensive while waiting for it, because what if it came and I hated it? But after it arrived and my husband set it up in a manner of minutes. It's super simple, looks great, folds up easier than any stroller I tried out, and the 3 wheels make the handling amazing. The fact that the wheels are large is great, too, because you get a super smooth ride (my sister put our dachshund in and wheeled him around and he had a great time!) Don't be put off by the fact that it's not a huge brand name like Graco, or that it's not sold at every store. I was put off at first by the fact that I'd have to pay shipping for such a big package, but I ordered it through Amazon from BabyAge (they had $8 flat shipping). Yes, the cupholders are a bit small, but honestly? If I was shopping and watching a baby I doubt the cupholders would be my first concern. And yes, there aren't a lot of bells and whistles, but the tradeoff is the light weight and simple design. I'd definitely recommend the Safety 1st Travel System!!
Great Travel System May 13, 2008 N. Chambers (Garfield Heights, OH United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love this stroller and car seat duo. I have been using it for my son for 5 months now and am completely happy. The stroller was easy to assemble, the car seat base was easy to install and it couldn't be easier to get my little one buckled and latched into the base. The stroller is sturdy, easy to manuever and easy to push offroad. We had researched a travel system for about 3 weeks before deciding on this one and I'm thrilled that we went with the Safety 1st model. The only minor complaint that I have is the width of the back wheels. Sometimes when shopping, I can't fit between clothes racks or support beams in isles. Other than that, it's perfect.
Lightweight but durable! May 2, 2008 Pamela Triick (Belmont, MI USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This stroller is lightweight, easy to maneuver and very durable. It is very easy to collapse and fold and open. Everything snaps into place so you know it is secure. There's a tray for rattles, toys, or other baby type things. There's a tray with cupholders for the pushers and even a cell phone holder. You can check on the baby through a "window" while you are strolling along as well. We are glad we purchased this system and highly recommend it.
