Product Description It's 2008 and it's time to hit home runs as 2KG Major League Baseball 2K8 brings you your best season ever. Thrilling features have been added to make this season more exciting. Are you out or in? Joe Morgan is announcing 2K8! Play ball! Team play is more expansive as there are 90 minor-league teams added to the game, including authentic uniforms, many authentic minor-league stadiums, and a few generic ones as well. 2K8 also features a new baseball-card system, in which you can earn players' cards by completing certain tasks. You can then sell duplicate cards for credits to buy new card packs, which consist of 10 cards and may include a stadium or special team. But by far the coolest part of the card system is the online card battles. When you have enough player cards to fulfill the requirements of a full team, you can then combine your cards to create a team and take head-to-head against other gamers' card teams online. An entirely new and unique pitching interface which is unlike anything that's been done before. The main input comes from the right analog stick. The execution involves matching a gesture to throw the desired pitch. This enables a lot more granularity from the input than a digital face-button approach. Revolutionizing your control of the 5 tools in baseball are brand new pitching, fielding and base running controls and completely overhauled batting interface. Featuring a totally unique trading card mode, robust Minor League system, all-new Signature Style animations for 2008, and more! 90 Minor League teams available in both Franchise and Exhibition modes Over 1 MILLION online gamers in the 2K community for head-to-head games

nice game August 31, 2008 H. Huang (LA) hard when u first play, but it is pretty neat and the players look more like real
Disappointing... March 10, 2008 M. Steinberg (Spring, TX United States) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
The graphics on a standard large-screen TV are not good. I have played PS3 titles on standard TV and the graphics are usually decent. This looks like a PS2 title. The hitting is semi-ridiculous. Both the CPU and human player make about a dozen circus catches a game. It is not uncommon to play multiple 2-1 games in a row, slightly ridiculous. There are also bugs galore. Instant replays that do not match what you are watching (i.e. a recap piece where a Home Run goes over the wall and the announcer says it was an inside the park HR). And of course, the game freezes. I played a 10 inning game today and it froze in the top of the 10th.
Get MLB The Show 08 Instead! March 18, 2008 E. Wilkinson (East Northport, NY United States) 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
On the PS3 you can download demos of Sony's MLB The Show 2008 and this title. I (as I'm sure many others) have played both demos. I do like the pitching and batting controls of 2K8, and the play by play of ESPN's Morgan and Miller (best in the game) on 2K8 as well - but it does not come close to making up for the huge quality difference - The Show is much, much, better and simply kicks 2K's rear end. Both games at this point are the same price - I don't know if anyone will choose this one. Don't take my word for it - play them both and see if you agree with this assessment: MLB The Show 08 = Mercedes Benz MLB 2K8 = Hyundai
Not even close March 17, 2008 K.C. Woodruff (Columbus, OH) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
We downloaded and played this game after playing MLB 08 The Show. This game has terrible graphics, the controls aren't very good either. The pitching interface didn't even make sense. I don't know, after playing The Show this game proves how far behind it really is. 2K8 has some nice games, but the baseball is just bad and full of glitches along with fumbling controls. I agree with the first guy...much more like a PS2 game graphically. The people involved with making this game need to take a long, hard look at MLB '08 to see how a true baseball game should be made. Bad showing 2K8. Thank goodness for demos because this would be a waste of money.
God awful, deserves ZERO stars March 22, 2008 J. MARION (NC) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Just an awful attempt at a baseball video game. Horrible framerate, terrible graphics, boring gameplay, bad commentary - AVOID! 2K should lose their license to make MLB games after this mess. If you are a PS3 owner you have the option of getting possibly the best baseball game ever made, MLB 08 The Show. There is NO reason to buy 2K8 instead of The Show.
