5 out of 5 stars Love the Game - Love The Collectors Edition   November 23, 2008

I enjoy the call of duty series and love the collectors edition of world at war. I've been reading about all these people complaning about "The canteen is a flask, and you can't even drink out of it" & "Your day 1 access didn't let you use the gun in create a class" - To all of you I wanna say there is a little violin playin' for ya between my fingers.

I bought the collectors edition cuz I love the game and I'm a major gamer. I've got all the gear to game and can't get enough of it when spare time allows it's use. Hence why we are called "GAMERS"

BUY IT, PLAY THRU SOLO, THEN ZOMBIE W/ SOME FRIENDS, THEN LOG ON LIVE AND LEVEL UP W/ DOUBLE XP RIGHT NOW!!

4 out of 5 stars World War 2 Again?   November 13, 2008
Arthur Gardner (Tucson, AZ USA)
Debate and discussions aside, whatever the reasons may be that the Call of Duty franchise was so decided to go back into the World War 2-era is beyond me and I've stopped all reasons to even considering thinking why or how come as the decision has obviously been made and people all around the world are playing this game, for whatever reason they themselves may have.

I for one am not here to speak directly about the gameplay-- while multiplayer is fun and the campaigns are a thrill to play through, my review isn't based on the actual game itself. Instead, I'm reviewing the contents and the context in which 'collectors' find themselves in when it comes to 'whatever edition' of any game that fits one's fancy.

If you're a collector, you pretty much know what you're getting yourself into. Some people collect these certain editions particular to the simple fact that they're for collecting. This is pretty much that exact reason. Honestly, now that I think about it, I do feel kind of ripped off. At least when Call of Duty 4 released its collector's edition it came with an art book-- this comes with nothing more than a couple of downloadable featurettes (which quite frankly you won't really be using all that much... unless you're a clan gamer then you'll find the clan tag deal to be something that might float your boat) and a flask you can't even use.

The tin that holds it all in though is HUGE! Probably only seconded by Assassin's Creed's collector edition tin. Most of the interior goes directly to packaging that houses the flask and that's about it. I bought this when it was still 79.99 (tax included as I bought it off a local game store), and seeing a drop in about 10 bucks makes me feel a little bit cheated but that's what I get for being the hasty, collector's edition nut of any release that follows.

In a way, I am kind of disappointed in my decision to go for this game's 'collector' edition but like I said, I pretty much knew what I was getting myself into. Almost every game I own, unless otherwise restrained, is some sort of 'edition' and this adds to just another item in that collective library of glam.

4 out of 5 stars My thoughts   November 22, 2008

I read all the reviews and i agree and disagree. I am one that bought the CE and bought it at 79.99 but amazon lowered the price and thats in the lowest price garentee for pre releases. As for the perks. i got mine. Follow the direction in the package. As stated you have to go online to get the X-box code. also double points will happen in the future rank up as high as you can. the higher your rank the more points you can get. Thats one thing i noticed so far with COD4 and CODWW. The flask isn't usable oh well don't really care. i think it's cool. the gun being a preset machine gun sucks but oh well. You can still use it if you want. Oh and if you get the CE you get a gold clan name. from what i've seen not many people are playing with the CE. i've only played with 3 other people in the last 4 days that had the gold clan name. Either way i was alittle disappointed but tey gave you what they said. maybe not the way i wanted but oh well. See you in the game.

4 out of 5 stars Collector's Edition for collector's   November 13, 2008

I think this game is a great game when it comes to the thrill of the campaign and the multiplayer is addicting as always. I don't really see why Call of Duty went back to the WWII era again but i think if you liked Call of Duty 4 you'll like this one. As far as the collector's edition.. i wouldn't say it's worth it unless you're buying it since it's a collector item.. I knew what i was getting myself into when i bought it because I've been a fan of the CoD series and the tin artwork looked nice to collect. If you're buying it souly for the gameplay i would buy just the game itself and save the money. This game keeps me addicted and looking forward to the title and hopefully Call of Duty 5 or 6.. If you like 1st person shooters or a fan of the series I would reccomend the game.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but not great   November 12, 2008

It's not that bad, they just have some problems to fix. Other than the fact that you can't split screen on Xbox Live and that your progress in campaign doesn't save when you play it in offline co-op, its pretty fun. Also, when you get your code on the card you get in CE, make sure you go to the website to get the token first, not just enter the code off the card into xbox live market place (the website gives you a different code)
