The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force. The Wii version will not only give you a solid story-line developed by LucasArts involving the Darth Vader's secret apprentice, but you'll experience a new style of gameplay only the Wii can offer. With the Wiimote and Nunchuck you'll be able to battle your way through your enemies utilizing your Lightsaber attacks and Force powers. Not only can you experience this new control system in story mode, but you can also try your Jedi skills against a friend in the Wii, "Battle Mode." Joining the Dark Side doesn't seem like such a bad idea after all.

Game Features:
  • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
  • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
  • Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
  • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
  • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
  • The Wii system's "Battle Mode," a one on one fighting arena simliar to the classic game, Star Wars: Masters of Teraes Kaesi.
  • Use the Wiimote to slash and pierce your enemies with your Jedi Lightsaber while you use the Wii Nunchuk to disable other opponents with your Force Powers.
  • LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

Meet the Cast
The Star Wars Saga will continue in 2008 with LucasArts' biggest-ever video game event. The Cast of The Force Unleashed

The Technology of The Force Unleashed
With The Force Unleashed, LucasArts not only introduces a new chapter in the Star Wars saga, but also pushes the Wii's game engine to deliver amazing detail and realism only found in a Star Wars title. You will experience gameplay and the Force like you never had before.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Game, go buy it!   September 17, 2008

Got the game today and I love it. The graphics are probably not as flashy and polished as on the PS3 or X360, but the fact that you swing the wiimote to swing the lightsaber more than makes up for it. Yep, you swing the wiimote and the lightsaber does the same thing... want to to a left slash, right slash and a spinning twirl on the end? You can do that. Also, it has a great storyline that instantly hooks you. I won't spoil it, but it makes you want to keep playing just to see what happens... kinda like a book you can't put down. The force powers are quite cool too... you can pick up and throw lots of things, including people! I highly recommend this game. Its a lot of fun and you'll be very glad you bought it.

This is the most fun I've had with the Wii yet. I love this game! The graphics are as good as they can be on the Wii (the resolution can't compete with other consoles), but Wii's interactive controls can't be beat! Feels like you're holding a real light-saber. Hardcore gamers might not like this game (they rarely like licensed games, like Godfather, Hulk, Iron Man, etc.) but if you're any kind of Star Wars fan, buy this NOW.

5 out of 5 stars Impressive... most impressive   September 17, 2008

I can only comment on the single player mode of this game so far (knew I should have ordered a 2nd nunchuck much sooner), but I'm liking it a lot. You start off slaughtering wookies as Vader with every force ability you could ever dream of at your command. This means that yes you can grab a laser cannon using the nunchuck and have it continue firing under your control while slashing through enemies, and when you're bored with that you can choke a wookie too, then just for good measure hold another one in mid air and throw your saber into him like a spear impaling him. Great cinematics draw you further into the story bit by bit until you take command of Vader's young apprentice, who possesses all the general capabilities as Vader, but slightly altered - force lightning instead of choking..

Everything just works in this game. The Wii control system is complicated, but in a good way. At first you are trying to remember how to do the various moves, but it comes naturally after a while. The bosses are not all duels, but they are all epic so far, like fighting an AT-ST for instance. One nice feature, at a certain point when your victory is certain, the action changes to some basic gestures with the Wii mote as you watch a nice combo cinematic/finishing move. As always with Lucasarts the music and sounds are amazing. They really do a nice job in this game bridging the gap between the two trilogies.

This game will be a classic on the Wii.

5 out of 5 stars "Star Wars on Nintendo WII"   September 19, 2008

I think this was a great game, i rate games on what they are w/o comparisons to to same game on other systems( xbox 360/PS3 ). I have read where reviewers say the graphics are "ok" but lack the polish of the game on other systems, which makes me wanna ask; Why didn't you buy the game on another system, at this point I think that everyone is aware of the technical limitations of the Wii. I think the graphics and quality of this game is on point w/ 1st party nintendo games. I've also read reviews where ppl say that this game lacks depth, .......its a STAR WARS game what really do you expect? I guess that an original story and a great game engine doesn't count for anything.

This game is very exciting. You can upgrade force powers and change the power of your lightsaber and lightning force. Also, it is exciting to reflect attacks!
