My son received this Lego Duplo set for his first birthday and he plays with it everyday! At first he just liked to knock down whatever I created with the blocks, but now at 15 months he can build too! The blocks are very colorful and sturdy. But this set is fairly small. We are purchasing the Deluxe set for Christmas to expand our building options- I might suggest starting with the bigger set and skipping this one!
A small complaint is that the lid is too hard for my son to open on his own, so we don't usually close it tight. Although, this could be a good feature if you needed to be sure the lid stayed on during travel or other circumstances.

We have several sets of these Duplos and they are still loved and played with by kids even when they get older. To be honest, they're wonderful to build huge towers with them, and the older kids also add the smaller legos for bridges, roads, etc. They're just great fun, will last a lifetime and the price here is great on them too. They're still loved in this house - highly recommend!

When this arrived two months before my daughter's 1 year birthday, I decided to open it up and let her play with it instead of waiting to give it to her for her birthday. While she's still too young to play with the bricks as intended, she does love to put them in her mouth and bang them together. She may have a short attention span, but as soon as I get out the box of duplo bricks, she gets very excited and focused. I believe that this (along with more sets of duplo bricks - you can't ever have enough) will be a wonderful toy that she will grow to understand and play with better every day.
2 days ago, she put her first two bricks together.
I'm glad that I ignored the 18m+ and went ahead and started my daughter out early.
Couldn't be happier. And also, it's a great price for this starter set.

I bought this set for my 2 1/2 year old who loves them! This is her first set but she caught on right away. They are very easy to put together and take apart. She especially loves the little kitty it came with. She has been playing with the set for at least an hour every day, and she's one who loses interest pretty quickly. Not this time!
There aren't too many blocks so they end up all over the house and under your feet, but just enough to keep your toddler happy and inspire creativity. Highly recommended!

my son can not get a enough of these blocks he spends all day playing with them he cries when its time to put them away and takes them where ever he goes hes 23 months and he builds towers and then shows everyone its so cute this was a great buy actualy looking for more like it.
