Product Description
Noctua NF-S12-1200 RPM 120mm Fan
Engineered to be silent and efficient heat killer!

Overview:
Sound-optimised blade geometry and profile: The NF-S12 is the first fan employing a novel rotor which was developed by the Austrian Institute for Heat-Transmission and Fan Technology (Oesterreichisches Institut fuer Waermeuebertragung und Ventilatorentechnik, OeIWV). Thanks to the special optimisation of the blade geometry towards ultra low noise application, the NF-S12 is up to 10% more quiet than current high-end fans at the same flow rate.

Self-stabilising oil-pressure bearing (SSO bearing): The NF-S12 series are equipped with a magnetically centred, self lubricating oil-pressure bearing that provides a new level of quietness and long-term stability.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars SUPER quiet fan   July 27, 2008
A. Konrad Lagarde (North Carolina)
I ordered one of these after reading several reviews. This fan is EXCEPTIONALLY quiet... I got one for one computer and decided to get another for the second PC.

I found a "similar" fan at a local place and bought it to avoid the hassle of having to order this one on line.... this fan had comparable specifications.

I got this second fan home and it was EXTREMELY noisy and it had comparable specs to the Nuctua fan. Clearly the specs on this [China item] are FALSE... you can't always trust specifications!!! I returned this one and ordered another Noctua.

The Noctua fan is a superior product!

5 out of 5 stars Noctua Fan   September 30, 2008
Cdnbum (St. Louis, MO United States)
These fans are absolutely the best fans on the market for their quality and sound, or should I say, lack there of.
These fans are so quiet and push a lot of air. My whole case has these fans and additional 80mm fan on my NorthBridge.
Would highly recommend these fans.

4 out of 5 stars Did the trick in cooling my media cabinet   December 16, 2007
John Britton Jr. (Longmont, CO USA)

My media cabinet containing a PC and a receiver was getting obviously too hot. I cut a 120mm hole for the fan in the top of cabinet behind the TV, put 5 1" holes in the floor of the cabinet, and lay this fan on top of the 120mm hole, and I've achieved cooling happiness. It runs all the time, and can't be heard unless you get close and listen carefully. The resistor that came with the fan didn't look like it could really handle the load, so instead of using that I bought a 3-12v adjustable power supply from Radio Shack ($19), and use the 9V setting.
