Quality Greese Gun. December 23, 2007 Richard E. Tracy, MD (Nacogdoches,TX) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm glad I bought this grease gun. I've used 3 cartridges so far, and this gun looks and feels like it will last for many years. The 1134's cast metal head appears to be an improvement on other models, as there's less exposed moving parts that can get fouled with grease/dirt. IMHO the rigid pipe is a "throw away", as the rubber hose assembly works in more places. I also splurged and bought two (wall mounting) grease gun clamps (Lincoln Brand) for my 2 Grease guns. These Lincoln brand clamps do hold the guns securely, and hold the guns about an inch from the mounting surface, which is good for getting less grease on the garage wall. I mounted the Grease gun clamps on short lengths of 2X6 wood stock, and added a flat board (1" stock) to the bottom of the 2X6 piece,to act as a 'grease drip tray'. Two Lag bolts attach the 2X6 to the wall stud in my garage and "Voila", I've got the guns ready to go,up off the floor, and at much less risk of breaking a hose due to being stepped on. In any case, this pistol grip design is easier to use over the lever action grease guns, and allows you to have a "free hand" to tend to the grease coupler,if the occasion arrises (and it will!). IMO you can't go wrong in buying this grease gun! It is easier to use than the lever action guns and I see no downside to its pistol action. The hose assembly that comes with it appears sturdy, and Lincoln has parts and various fittings for this gun, in case anything (like a hose or coupler) eventually does break, or you need a specialized coupler for a hard to reach zerk fitting.
Great Grease Gun November 14, 2007 elder (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Best grease gun I have owned, and I have gone through a few of them so far. This will be the last one I buy. The quality is top notch. Very smooth operating handle.
Works great except the coupler is very difficult. January 27, 2008 Herman Strickland 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The grease gun works great except the coupler is very difficult to put on and get off the zerk fitting.
Good Grease Job August 16, 2008 Jerry H. Bond 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a possible solution for the tight-coupler problem. I used to have a Caterpillar grease gun that had to be pried off the fitting just like this gun does. It was also a heavy duty, industrial gun like this Lincoln. I like heavy duty, but there is a limit to how much force needs to be applied to free the coupler from the grease fitting. Most do-it-yourselfers have a Dremel. Dremel makes a small, cone-shaped, red-stone bit. It's head is 5mm wide at the base and 8.5 long. I don't know the item number. It is tiny. Under a magnified florescent work lamp, I lightly ground the three crescent-shaped, spring-loaded clamps that grab the grease fitting, careful to maintain the original contour. This took about two minutes. I'd lightly graze all three clamps and then test the connection. I left the coupler a little tight allowing for future wear. This grease gun is top quality. After a two-minute modification, it is now a customized tool. Guys like to customized cars, motorcycles and guns, why not their tools? I needed a tough pistol-grip grease gun to access tight places where it is nearly impossible to operate a lever-action gun. This works for me. Good luck.
Profesional Quality! January 17, 2008 J.C. (Chicago IL) This Grease gun is built to last! It comes with extra tips for different applications. The tip was hard to get off at first, but after that worked great! This is the last grease gun you will need to buy.
