Does a great job, but needs better instructions September 17, 2007 Gregory Miller (Hazard, Kentucky USA) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I'm quite impressed at how good this product worked. I have a black car and some careless idiot slammed their white car door into mine, leaving a series of marks. I bought some Scratch X because it had gotten mainly good reviews and tried it. The label simply says to rub it on with a terry cloth, let dry, then buff away, if it were only that easy! For Scratch X to work you need to apply it to a soft cloth (I used an old tshirt) and rub AGAINST the scratch until it (the Scratch X, not the actual scratch!) disappears on the area. Apply more Scratch X and keep repeating this step until the scratch is nearly gone (it took me about 5 times). After that, turn the same cloth (in my case a tshirt) over and buff the residue away. I applied quite a bit of pressure to the area and as you could imagine my arm and wrist became quite tired by the time I was finished, but it was indeed worth it. I treated another scratch just behind my side view mirror and while applying more Scratch X to the cloth, I actually lost track as to where the scratch was, so I'm pleased with the overall results.
MagicX October 6, 2008 Mark Reddy (Lousyana) If you've been scrubbing away with traditional polishes, this stuff is like magic. Only thing that's better is Meguiar's 33. It will definitely take some elbow grease; buy yourself a cheap orbital buffer for use with this.
I love this stuff January 16, 2007 C. J. Leach (Midwest, United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I use it to keep the clear lexan cover on my squad car light bar maintained. Makes it look like new and seems to provide a lasting protective finish that is superior to other products that I've tried. Works well on those "plastic" headlight covers that tend to haze over. The container tube is good quality and has not cracked and split open like some other brands I've used. They even put a hole in the base of the tube so you can hang it on a nail on the garage wall (or on a chain around your neck, I suppose). On paint??? Outstanding!! I think you'll be pleased.
Deep clean your window glass! October 27, 2007 Bebe Deimos (AZ, USA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a miracle product! I have used it for years to remove tar, light scratches and paint staining wierdness. As long as you keep your car waxed at least once every few months, this stuff will usually take all of it out. Recently I found yet another use for Scratch X, which is removing hard water stains from my car window glass. I live in the desert southwest and between sun, rain, dust, whatever else is in the air, and no time for like 6 months in the summer to clean my car, I managed to get some hard water stains on all the passenger side parts of the window glass that just would NOT come out (I have no idea why is was just the passenger side, sun maybe?). I tried Rain X, wax, paint thinner (very cautiously), and everything else I could think of, but none of these did much. I tried some Scratch X and a serious amount of elbow grease and it cleaned the stuff right off. The work required was just too much for all my windows, so I bought a power waxer and did all the windows in about 10 hours (over several weeks time). Sounds like a lot of work, and it was, but I didn't see any other alternative other than either living with it (was pretty annoying) or getting all the glass replaced (very expensive).
Worked Good on my Keyed Car October 7, 2008 John (Elk Grove, CA) Unfortunately had my car keyed deep with a curse word. Some of the letters were too deep to get out, but ScratchX did manage to remove some of parts of the lettering so that the word is not legible. ScratchX WORKS great to remove light scratches on the paint, but on some of the deeper scratches it just did okay. So if you have light scraps on the side of the doors ScatchX will get those out, but if you have deep scraps like deep keyed car scraps then don't expect that to disappear. Overall for the cost of the product at $7-10 dollars at your local autostores this is one of the best Scratch "removers" to use. It's effective and easy to use. Remember ScratchX isn't a miracle cure, but it's darn close to it. TIPS: Apply and remove several coats to clear out the scratches. Some elbow grease will go along way to helping get those scratches more blended.
