Product Description What it is:A unique gel eyeliner and shadow in one. What it does:The verdict is in, and smudge pots take the prize for sexy eyes. The innovative and spunky alternative to traditional powder and liquid formulas, this clever little gel has an inky intensity that leaves powder shadows in the dust. The glass jar and airtight lid keeps the gel soft and pliable.

Utterly beautiful stuff! July 1, 2005 I. Gutierrez 73 out of 74 found this review helpful
After gorowing way tired of the pencil liners which smudged perfectly but were gone in a couple of hours and disliking the harsh lines of unsmudgeable liquid liners, I ran across the very wonderful smudge pot. This product has a consistency not unlike a little-harder-than-usual gel. The pots are little but one finds out really fast that this stuff is definitely worth it. A little bit of this product goes a long way and it stays on and on and on... It'll last you all throughout the day no matter what the weather (trust me, I know, living in a hot, humid climate, my makeup melts off my face really fast). The product is true to its name as it produces wonderful smoky effects with minimal effort and nothing more than a brush to help you (as a previous reviewer noted, I too decided to forgo dipping my fingers into this). The colors are wonderful and personally, I find that the grey one is universally perfect, however, the others I like very much too. So, tired of difficult eyeliner? Look no further than this. It's totally worth it, another great quality product from Stila!
Perfect balance between liquid and pencil October 5, 2005 T. Justice (Pittsburgh, PA) 48 out of 49 found this review helpful
This eyeliner is perfect. I purchased it after reading the reviews on Amazon and I am very pleased with my purchase. I have used the Urban Decay liquid eyeliner for three to four years now and I love it but when I'm in a hurry it's not a great option b/c of the percision required. I have been searching for a pencil or crayon eyeliner that I could use when I'm in a hurry but haven't found anything that I liked very much. I like black eyeliner and the pencil and crayon liners always go on looking kind of dull and gray.... yuck. They would also smear, streak, or wear off by the end of the day. This eyeliner is perfect, I also purchased the Stilla #13 eye liner brush and use that for application and the result is spectacular. The brush allows you to get the liner in between the lashes which makes your lashes look even fuller than mascara alone. This eyeliner doesn't run, smear or streak, it stays put all day long and it's a breeze to use. I would describe the consistency as that of a thick cream concealer but it dries and stays on like the Urban Decay liquid liner that I love. After it dries (only takes a few seconds) you can run your finger lightly over the area where the eyeliner is and barely a trace shows up on your finger! I would highly recommend this product, it may completely replace my Urban Decay liner that I have been so loyal to for many years.
Somewhere between Liquid and Powder lies...Perfection March 29, 2005 samara_k (Los Angeles, CA) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
This is it - my Holy Grail of eyeliner. Stila Smudge Pots gel eyeliner the best of both liquid and powder. It's precise, yet smudgeable, and once it dries, it stays put all day - even on the inside edges of my eyelids. This product meets all of my eyelining needs. I even use it to color in a little mole on my cheek when I want a Marilyn-style beauty mark. I've had the brown for six months, and I'm not even a fourth of the way through it. I wear it every day. The packaging states you can use your fingers to apply it like shadow, but that seems rather unhygenic with a pot-style product (especially one I use on the inner edges of my eyelids) so I rely on a variety of brushes to get just the look I want. I sterilize my brushes after every use. I have heard that this product has a tendency to dry out, so I have always been very careful to keep it tightly capped. I have a tendency to be allergic to even hypoallergenic eye make-up, but I have no problems with anything from Stila.
Excellent! December 24, 2006 R. Westling 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am a notorious cheapskate so throwing down the dollars to try this eyeliner along with the $32 #28 Smudge Pot brush (yikes!) was a big decision. I am a contact lens wearer, and I tend to get oily around the corners of my eyes, so I have to be careful what I use or else it will irritate my contacts (causing me to rub my eyes), or else give me raccoon eyes. I got Smudge Pots in black, and I have to say this is a fantastic product! The only minor complaint I have about it is it still disappears in the outer corners of my eyes if I do a "cat eye" (like I said, I get oily there), but it lasts a good 6 to 8 hours before it starts to budge. I've also since found Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eyeliner (a little pricier at $22), which is even better for my lower lids and my "cat eye" corners (I'm super-impressed that it survived a "contact malfunction" which resulted in a lot of eye-watering and me having to remove my contact with my makeup on and it STILL didn't budge!), but I use Smudge Pots if I want a smoky look as the Jet Set doesn't smudge as well since it dries more quickly. I highly recommend the #28 Smudge Pot brush as well - even though it's a bit pricey, there is nothing better. It has two ends, one fine and pointy to do a smooth even line in one stroke, and one that is short-bristled which is perfect for smudging. You definitely need a brush for applying this eyeliner, and that's the best brush I've ever used. Make sure you clean the brush with some mild soap and water between uses - I forgot to clean it the one day and it gets hard and doesn't line as smoothly - no harm done, it washed off perfectly fine. I usually just wash mine immediately after using it and let it dry all day so it's ready for me the next time I need to apply. All in all, this is a fantastic product that is simple and fast to apply (it takes me only a few seconds, and only one to two strokes per top lid for full solid coverage). If you want to smudge, do it quickly after applying, because once it dries, it's very good at staying put. It has a gel consistency, so close the lid tightly between uses so it won't dry out. Despite the price, it is a great investment, because it really doesn't take a lot of product for it to look great. Highly recommended!
This stuff rocks! March 25, 2005 Strange East Bay Girl (East of San Fran) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was a long-time fan of the Shiseido Ombre powder shadow as a liner, as I've always found that liquid liners can look too harsh and can be tricky to use. As Shiseido has apparently stopped making the Ombre shadow, I'm so glad I've found Stila Smudge Pots. I can apply the product and leave the line sharp, or blend for a smokey look. I've been applying it with a sponge applicator, which I find really easy. I'm amazed at the staying power this stuff has! It literally stays in place all day.
