Dramatic combo June 22, 2006 Venus A. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own just about every color imaginable for eye shadows...mute, shimmering, pealized in cream, tube, pencil, limited edition...you name it. There is not enough space on my table. Yet, I find NARS shadows irrisistable. They certainly have unexpected colors. I recently bought ARCTIC which is shown here as bright silver and ruby. However, the actual product did not match the colors shown here. It has a gun metal gray color..dark shimmery silver, and dark wine almost purplish color. Pigments of ARCTIC are intense and it's more mute/reserved than flirty. Would go well for a woman with a whip in her hand. The texture is velvet. It glides smoothly and stays put. You get what you paid for...quality. Looking forwards to try other colors.
I'll Never Use Another Shadow!!! November 12, 2007 Christine Kelly (Ithaca, New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nars eyeshadow is exquisite and I've purchased many a shade. Allow me to explain why it is such a love of mine: 1) Rich, gorgeous pigment with a very impressive color pay off. 2) You can get it wet! If you dip your brush in a bit of water and then wiggle it in the shadow (think watercolors) then you can use it as a liquid liner. I highly recommend this. 3) They last a long time. My favorite color in the duo format is Divine (deep warm brown and brilliant magenta). I use the brown with an angled brush for my eyebrows and the magenta makes my green eyes look ULTRA green. Madrague has some really soft colors which are good for everyday.
My favorite eyeshadow February 3, 2008 Sasha 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The texture is wonderful , the color is great (I have Bellisima and Paris). I really have nothing negative to say about this product.
NARS DUO (bronzer & blush) LAGUNA - ORGASM April 19, 2008 Marcia B. Roberts (New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As I have written before, I think NARS Laguna bronzer is the best on the market. Laguna leaves your skin looking truly sun-kissed, not fake-baked or orange. It works no matter how light or dark your skin is. NARS does carry a bronzer that is a shade darker however called Casino. Laguna gives you a more golden brown color than most bronzers which leave you looking like orange glow. Laguna is perfect for a year-round naturally radiant glow. The blush in this duo, Orgasm, is incredible! The best blush on the market. It is constantly picked as a favorite by beauty magazines. The color is a golden peach. It does have a bit of shimmer to it, but not much. NARS orgasm blush gives you a soft and sheer look. The color just gives you a healthy glow. These two (LAGUNA & ORGASM) paired together are an unbeatable team. They work together so well. I highly recomend both products, together or seperate. I prefer buying them seperate because of the quantity, but this is a great price if you wanted to try them out. Great choice!!
A Nars Addict Confesses... May 9, 2004 Svaadball (El Segundo, CA United States) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I was first introduced to NARS at a time when I generally did not buy makeup. I was a wash-n-go kind of girl. However, it really only took one duo before my heart was pledged to NARS cosmetics. I didn't give it five stars because I really hate the price. These duos are definitely expensive, but they are that partly because you simply won't find these color combinations anywhere else. If you are the type of woman who loves to experiment and try new looks, or if you have a good eye for color, then this is the line for you. Even if you don't go for some of the more unusual combinations, NARS has a few very nice neutral combos with a more updated feel (i.e., less matte and more subtle shimmer) than some other lines. NARS eyeshadows (both duos and singles) tend to have the same silky, sheer quality, no matter what the color. That having been said, the dark burgundy you see in the (I think it's New York) pan will go on your eyelid as a sheer burgundy; the black blue-green in Cleo will show up on your eyelid as a sparkly greenish-grey. Any of the very black Night-single series will show up as either silver-toned grey sparkles, gold-toned grey sparkles, or red-toned grey sparkles. This having been said, do not be afraid to try some of the more unusual-looking duos in this line. You will be surprised. This sheer quality works to advantage in some of NARS' combos, but it works against them in others. Sheer color does offer more control during application, but it can sometimes feel like you're working too hard to get the right shade of black. For a deeper black, I would try another line (perhaps MAC). The lighter colors in the combos are great for highlighting and all-over coverage, and even not-so-skilled hands can produce the desired "natural" look (except better). Something about the tones in these colors make them wearable by many different skintypes: my best friend, a freckled, cool-skinned blonde, can wear nearly any color I can (I have warm olive skin, with dark eyes and hair). Application has everything to do with it. The argument can be made that some other lines, like MAC, for example, makes just as many if not more colors, and aren't quite as expensive. This may or may not be true. What attracts me to the line, besides the cool colors and the cute packaging, is that NARS eyeshadows are easy to apply and control, and that their colors, while sheer, remain true. That is to say (with the exception of the black-based colors mentioned above, which is a common problem in ANY line) that what's gold in the pan will be gold on your skin, albeit a sheerer gold than what's in the pan. Gold. Not yellow, or orange, or green. Gold. This is what makes me keep coming back to NARS.
