5 out of 5 stars fun colors, good polish   August 26, 2006

I'm a bit of a nail polish junkie--I like to try a lot of new colors. The Sephora brand if really good for that, because of the smaller size and corresponding smaller price (am I really going to still be into my current love affair with dark berry shades next season? I was more into coral and orange-y shades last month). The color choices are pretty extensive--from way-out-there funky, to your basic shades, to copies of the latest "it" shades of the moment. I find it to be pretty good in terms of quality. Another reviewer noted that the product has a nice consistency--not too thick and gloppy, and I agree with that. So if you like to experiment with different shades and looks on your nails all the time (and you don't have an unlimited nail polish budget), this is a great product for you. If you are just looking for the very, very, very best nail polish in the whole world because you always want a perfect red (or beige or magenta) that will last all week without a chip then you would probably be happier with another product.

And yeah, colors are tricky on screen. If a certain precise calibration of color is important to you, I'd buy in person if at all possible.

5 out of 5 stars The 411 on Sephora Nail Polish   July 7, 2006

This nail polish is only four dollars and comes in a wide array of colors. It's fairly inexpensive, so don't compare it to better brands like O.P.I and Essie.

Also, the bottles are small. This means you don't get that much product, which is okay if you want to stock up on a bunch of funky colors you aren't going to wear every day. The small size also means that they're really portable. You can easily toss them into a purse (of course when they are tightly closed so there's no spillage!) and do basic touch-ups throughout the day when you're in the right time and the right place.

The other person who gave a negative review seemed to judge based on the fact she didn't like the colors she ordered. And who would like purple and orange nail polish? They aren't for everyone. Of course, she does have a point that they probably look different online so I recommend actually going to a Sephora to buy these. Plus, you can try them on before you buy them. And to prevent chipping, use a good base coat and at least one top coat of clear nail polish. To make my nail polish last super long, I apply a new top coat every other day. ;) Applying a new top coat every other day is much easier than wiping all the polish off just because of one ugly chip and starting all over again. Plus, since it's clear in color smudges, chips, and nicks don't show up so you don't have to wait super carefully for topcoats to dry.

I bought two of these at Sephora (not here on Amazon): a rose/gold shimmery color and a bronze shimmery color. I'm really satisfied with the color of these nail polishes. The bronze one is sheer but with more layers, gets darker and darker. It looks great when you have a tan, and is especially good for summer. I love this color!

The rose/gold one is a pretty twist on classic red nail polish. I'm actually not a big fan of red nail polish (it's too bright and bold for me) but this reddish shade is one I feel comfortable in and am happy to wear. I recommend just applying one or two coats if you're like me and prefer subtler shades, but if you want all-out a simple three or even four coats creates a pretty rose colour with shimmery gold shadows.

Overall, I think this is pretty good nail polish. It glides on with good consistency unlike other polishes I've tried (never buy Revlon nail polish! It can be thick & goopy), it dries in a reasonable amount of time if you apply a thin coat, and can be layered for your own custom intensity. The color range is wide: from clear to neutral, pretty to bold, funky to classic. I'd recommend these to any nail polish junkie.

5 out of 5 stars Lovely selection of colors!   September 12, 2007

I tend to buy a lot of nail polish, but never finish a bottle before it gets old and goopy, so these little bottles are perfect for me. The color lasts long enough if you maintain it (another reviewer describes how). My favorite is no. 34, a nude, sophisticated color that looks good on *everyone*.

I bought 56, the electric blue shade, at Sephora itself and I was really surprised by how opaque it was. Pleasantly surprised, because most brilliant shades are more glossy and transparent. You can't beat the price or selection.

I bought this nail polish for my mother. She loved it. She loved the color. It was a great price for such nice nail polish.
